light calligraphy show Armani Residences Diriyah

To celebrate the launch of Armani Residences Diriyah in Riyadh, artists Fella Malou and François Aenishanslin created a luminous, live performance that bridged calligraphy, digital projection, and music in a poetic sequence of eight movements.
This immersive light calligraphy show paid homage to the cultural roots of Diriyah and the timeless elegance of the Armani brand.

A Tribute to Armani Residences Diriyah Through Light and Motion

A performance in eight poetic acts

The stage opened in silence. A faint constellation flickered into life — an abstract light-star. Gently followed by the artist, it marked the beginning of a journey guided by light, gesture, and sound.

عراقة الدرعية / Diriyah’s Legacy

Rooted and powerful gestures emerged, inspired by Diriyah’s noble heritage and ancient spirit. Each golden calligraphic trace evoked the solidity of architecture and the dignity of the past.
The atmosphere was carried by deep, slow Qanûn arpeggios, in traditional scales.

أناقة ميلانو / Milan’s Elegance

The gestures became fluid and stylized, merging Eastern ornamentation with the minimalist refinement of Italian design.
Lines danced like motifs on fabric, and the music mirrored this lightness with airy, precise phrasing on the Qanûn.

أسلوب حياة / A Way of Life

Inspired by the beauty of daily rituals, the strokes widened and flowed freely, echoing the refined serenity of the residences.
The golden light responded to each movement, while the Qanûn adopted a soft, modern harmony, evoking a calm and luxurious lifestyle.

Symbolic Metamorphosis

Calligraphic strokes appeared, then dissolved like a breath. From these fleeting traces, Fella Malou sketched an abstract symbol derived from the Arabic letters of “Armani”.
With a circular motion, she spun the form, initiating its transformation.

The Logo Emerges

The abstract emblem evolved into the Armani Residences Diriyah pictogram, followed by the Arabic version of the logo.
The Qanûn glided gently through this moment, with layered harmonics and light shimmering effects in projection.

Final Signature

The full bilingual logo of Armani Residences Diriyah appeared. The artist stood still, bowed, and slowly exited the stage.
A final sustained note from the Qanûn echoed in the silence. The space faded to black, leaving the memory of a luminous signature in the minds of the audience.

Light Calligraphy as a Signature Artform

This performance reflects the artistic signature of the duo Fella Malou & François Aenishanslin, whose light calligraphy shows have been featured in cultural festivals, luxury brand events, and immersive experiences across the globe. Their work explores the intersection of handwriting, light, memory, and space—offering a modern echo of ancestral scripts.

🧑‍🎨 About the Artists

Fella Malou, a visual artist specializing in contemporary Arabic calligraphy, and François Aenishanslin, a digital scenographer, form a Franco-Algerian duo whose work blends traditional gestures with custom-made light projection systems.
Together, they have developed an immersive performance format where each stroke of light is captured, animated, and projected in real time — creating ephemeral landscapes of meaning and movement.

For this unique commission at Armani Residences Diriyah, they combined visual storytelling, architectural inspiration, and musical dialogue in a poetic celebration of place, heritage, and design.
